Alister and Erin McDermott – The Bower Estate
On Saturday 16 May 2020, Alister and Erin McDermott chose to formalise their love for one another at the picturesque Bower Estate wedding venue. Together through these unpredictable months, they have shown strength and resilience, trust and composure. Although a very hard decision not to have their friends and family at their wedding, they made the decision to celebrate their love for one another and tie the knot on 16 May 2020.
For Alister and Erin it is not only the big moments in their lives that are significant but also the little moments that touch their hearts significantly. From the big ones like saying “I love you,” moving in together, getting engaged — but also the million little ones that come in between the big moments. Falling asleep next to one another, making dinner together, spending holidays with your families, binge-watching Netflix shows, getting a big hug when you get home from work… These everyday moments fuse them together into one big experience.
How did this love story start?
21 years ago at the age of 8, Alister and Erin met in grade 3 at primary school. Although words were not exchanged Erin remembers Alister’s flaming red hair. After not seeing each other since year 6, they crossed paths again at a party in year 11, where they kindled after a few drinks.
It wasn’t until Many years later now at the age of 22 and very much out of school these two primary school friends reconnected on the famous ‘Facebook’. A quick comment on a picture followed up by a ‘Hey Stranger’ DM and Erin was all in. Alister and Erin were instantly drawn to each other and you could say the rest was history.
Erin reflected to me the first time they official met, her first thought was “ good arms, good looking fella”, and instantly she was comfortable in his presence. Erin soon brought Alister’s reserved self out of his shell with her enthusiastic and kooky personality. Erin loves how much they laugh at each other and with each other. From the day they started dating and still to this day Erin feels very supported with a true partner in life.
Alister fell in love with Erin’s infectious smile and laugh that always puts a smile on his face and gives him positive energy. As embarrassing yet entertaining as it is to Alister, Erin has the ability to turn any situation into a dance routine whether it is doing the groceries, walking down the street or at the gym (I’ve been told to check her Instagram out, in particular a treadmill dance video).
You enjoy annoying each other, as it always makes you laugh. The little things are the big things to both of you like random texts during a busy day, just saying I love you. Together you have started a beautiful mini family with your two puppies, Duke & Riley. You are the four best friends that just love being together. Today is my honour to marry two individuals who love and respect each other like no tomorrow.
